Discussion board… or community?

Hey!

While I am editing part 20 (the first editing can get a bit boring at times ;), I was also thinking about this website. As you know, I’ve been working on it for most of the week. But I can’t seem to make up my mind about something…

We now have the discussion board. It’s an old school forum, really. It certainly has its advantages (simplicity, not another network to keep up with, …)

But also lots of limitations. And when I look at (y)our posts, it seems like we might be in need of a more ‘stream like’ user experience. A bit like Facebook or Twitter.

A community tool that would make it easier for you to post short stuff without having to open a forum topic. It would also be more interactive and you could add media like Youtube links more easily. Hell, you can even ‘like’ stuff πŸ˜‰

But, do you want this? Or do you want to stick with our old school forum? πŸ™‚ Let me know!

Sigrid

Oh! PS: This blog would stay the same and would still allow comments. The #discussion board section would just change to #community or something.

I’m giggling to myself. As soon as I saw your post about the ‘like’ button I was like, “Oh boy, I feel a ‘like’ button coming soon to this website.” πŸ˜‰

Are you saying that there would be one all encompassing page for comments/chatting and what not? Sounds good. A suggestion, if that’s the case, would be that the newest posts remain at the top so that you don’t have to scroll down, down, down to find the new posts. πŸ™‚

Also, you’re kind of all around amazing. Pretty cool what you’ve done for your website lately!

Haha, exactly. That kind of stuff! I feel like we’re ‘chatting’ like on social rather than doing the old forum posting. So it makes more sense to have a timeline sort of thing. I just wanted to check what you all thought. Maybe y’all are HUGE forum fans πŸ˜€

Let’s see what the others think…

As long as it is not FB, I’m all for something that makes it easier to chat and react.

Do you mean it shouldn’t be LIKE Facebook or I shouldn’t actually use a real Facebook group? πŸ˜‰

Oh yes. Everything will stay right here πŸ™‚ It would remind you of Facebook in functionality, but it would absolutely not be linked to Facebook in any way. It’s all on this site and my own server.

Ah! Found an example πŸ™‚ It would look like this: https://ultimatememberdemo.com/activity/

You can post text, pics, links to YT and then chat away in the comments

I’m late to the game, but that’s ok since we all seem to be if he same great mind. 😊

Sigrid is AWESOME! And I definitely like the community here. ❀️
