HANNAH

“Good morning, Mary.

MARY

“Hey, Hannah.”

HANNAH

“I know. You don’t like surprise visits.”

MARY

That’s not true.

HANNAH

I can tell. Your face.

MARY

I’m sorry. I …

HANNAH

No! I love it! I wish all my managers were this honest.

NARRATION

Meet Mary, the store manager of the New York City Leroy Chocolates store. Her boss, Hannah, just dropped by unexpectedly on a Tuesday morning. And she has surprise in store for Mary.

HANNAH

Look, I’m here with an offer. One I hope you cannot refuse.

MARY

O-okay?

HANNAH

I want you to roll out your magic across all the stores.

MARY

My, eh, magic?

NARRATION

Hannah offers Mary the promotion of a lifetime. But … there’s a catch.

HANNAH

I’d like you to teach Lex how to run the store. I guess it’ll be your first challenge on the new job!

NARRATION

And challenging it will be. Because Lex is nothing like Mary.

LEX

I’m sorry, Hannah, but I really don’t see myself working at a local store for 2 or 3 years.

HANNAH

Lex, I want my top management to know what the store floor feels like.

LEX

That’s ridiculous.

HANNAH

You might think it is. But I don’t want to run a company where the highest paid people don’t know how to work the register.

LEX

Surely, you can see that different people have different expertise. Why would you want to waste mine by putting me behind a register for 2 years? Anyone can do that.

NARRATION

Lex has just lost her prestigious job and her purpose. Her cousin Hannah has offered her a lifeline, but with some serious strings attached. Lex might have no choice but to accept the offer.

HANNAH

It’s fine if you don’t want to take this job. But if you’d like to join Leroy as the financial director, then I want you to manage a store for 2 to 3 years first. Take it or leave it, Lex.

LEX

I just need some to time to get used to the idea.

HANNAH

So you’ll do it?

LEX

*sighs*

NARRATION

And so Mary and Lex are destined to face off for a confrontation. It’s a clash of styles, personalities and upbringing.

LEX

Lex Emsworth, nice to meet you.

MARY

I’m Mary. Oh, these chocolates are my favorites. The raspberry inside is just perfect. Don’t you think?

LEX

Eh, I haven’t tasted it yet.

MARY

But it’s one of our best sellers!

LEX

I’m a recent chocolate convert? Still lots to learn.

MARY

I guess we’ll need to start the transition with a day of chocolate tasting then.

LEX

I think I’d rather start with going over the numbers.

NARRATION

Like I said before, the two really are nothing alike. But soon enough, angry stares make way for furtive glances. No matter how hard both women try to deny it, sparks begin to fly.

Will Mary and Lex find a way past their many differences? Or will one of them decide it’s better to stay out of each other’s business entirely?
