The Diva Story Early Access: Part 23 Excerpt

I’m a very proud but very tired sister! The wedding yesterday was very romantic and a lot of fun. Today on the other hand, was mostly hangover management 😉 But I promised you an excerpt today… and here it is!

Hannah looked over her shoulder to see if anyone was following her. Luckily, Suzanne was still talking to the same group of people, laughing and sipping her glass of champagne.

Hannah knew she had been a bit rude using her phone while talking to Suzanne and others at the reception. But she simply hadn’t been able to stop herself.

Once she saw she had a message from Milly, she had become completely distracted. Not that she had been great company before.

She didn’t know why she had let Suzanne pull her away from Milly in the first place. Maybe because she had been feeling jealous herself? And walking off with Suzanne was a great way to get her away from Milly?

Maybe. But as soon as Suzanne had started flirting with her openly, Hannah had snapped out of whatever weird funk she had been in. She wasn’t going to play this game.

“You know, I’d actually love to meet the general manager,” she had told Suzanne. The diva had looked at her with raised eyebrows.

In a way, it had felt good to be so cool to Suzanne. At least she still had her cool, Hannah had thought. She already had one diva messing with her emotions and throwing her off balance. She didn’t need a second one.

“Can you introduce me? Or did you want me to talk to someone else first?” Hannah had said calmly.

Suzanne was quick to recover, though. “Of course. I did want to introduce you to someone. Follow me.”

She had said it with such a dazzling smile, Hannah had almost believed her. She raised an eyebrow at Suzanne and looked down at her hand resting on Hannah’s arm.

Suzanne pulled it back and immediately waved at someone in the room. “There he is right now!” Suzanne said.

“Oh, she is so smooth.” Hannah had thought. “Too smooth.”

And so, Suzanne had indeed introduced Hannah to some people. They had all been eager to talk to Hannah as soon as Suzanne mentioned the foundation in her introduction. But the memory of those chats was already one big blur. Hannah had been too distracted by the texting back and forth with Milly.

At first, it had been a relief to just be in touch with her. But the texts had quickly turned into flirty banter, making Hannah grin. And, finally, Milly’s texts had become downright seductive, making Hannah’s pulse pick up.

It hadn’t taken long before she had wanted to bolt and find Milly no matter what. The promise of a backstage tour, alone with Milly, had sounded too good to resist.

She had excused herself in the middle of a conversation she wasn’t really paying attention to anyway, and rushed towards the hallway, where she was now. Hannah hadn’t missed the annoyance in Suzanne’s eyes when she said goodbye. She couldn’t care less, though.

Hannah smoothed down her suit jacket and looked for Milly. There was no one else in the hallway so it wasn’t hard to find her. Milly was waiting by the door, with a confident grin on her lips and fire in her eyes.

Hannah grinned back. Seeing Milly waiting for her, dressed in that incredibly sexy gown, filled her with an unexpected pride. And an overwhelming desire to kiss Milly. She couldn’t do that here, though. But she could backstage, she hoped.

“Hello there”, Milly said, her voice sounding a bit huskier than usual. Something hot and needy stirred in Hannah’s stomach.

“I’m ready,” Hannah said.

Milly looked at her from under long eye lashes. “Ready for what?” she asked.

Hannah thought saying ‘my ride on the tourist train’ would probably come out the wrong way, so she said “My tour” instead.

She stepped in front of Milly. Milly’s eyes scanned her face and settled on her lips. Hannah wasn’t sure what Milly would do, but she thought she could hear the electricity between them crackle.

“Ok, let’s go,” Milly said. She turned and pushed against the door.

Hannah studied Milly’s mostly bare back. The shifting lines of Milly’s shoulders made her mouth go dry. She really, really wanted to run a finger over Milly’s skin. She remembered its taste from kissing Milly all over her body just two days ago.

The heavy door of the backstage area closed behind them. Hannah immediately reached for Milly’s hand, planning to pull Milly into her arms and kiss her.

But she stopped herself. She had expected to step into a dark and abandoned hallway. The perfect place to run off to together.

Instead, there were bright lights and she could hear several people talking nearby. Loud bangs echoed everywhere. She could even hear drilling now and then. Hannah’s shoulders dropped.

Milly giggled. “Not what you expected?”

Hannah was sure her cheeks would be crimson red in about 2 seconds.

“Eh, a bit lighter… and busier,” Hannah admitted.

Milly tilted her head, but didn’t say anything.

Hannah smiled uncomfortably and looked around, her hands on her hips.

“So, what are you showing me first?”

Milly reached out and linked arms with her. Hannah leaned into the touch.

“There’s always my dressing room,” Milly said as they started walking.

Hannah glanced sideways at Milly. “What?” she asked.

Milly didn’t meet her gaze but her lips formed a mischievous smile.

“If you’re looking for a place where we can be alone in the dark…”
